18th Century English Tobacco Box
This is an English tobacco box and press from the 18th century. Made of lead, the box and press were used to keep the tobacco moist. These were also called community boxes. The domed lid has a finial in the shape of a Moor's head and an octagonal shape. The box is in excellent condition for it's age. 5" H x 5" W x 3" D
