A Japanese Edo/Meiji period boxwood mask netsuke depicting Shishiguchi. The netsuke was worn in traditional dress and are highly valued for their artistry. This boxwood Shishiguchi mask comes for the collection of the Newark Museum of Art. it has been strung on pink silk cord with a toggle bead in the form of a skull.
