Mid Century Rhinestone Jewelry
Rhinestone jewelry originated in Europe with the jewels made from rock crystal found along the Rhine River. Georg Friedrich Strass, a Parisian jeweler, was the first to manufacture jewelry made of cut glass with metal applied to the underside in the early 1700s. Strass, paste, and rhinestone jewelry has been popular ever since.
I think rhinestone jewelry, when not too over designed, is as classic as denim and a white tee shirt. These pieces are from the 1950s and will add a bit of fun and glamour to anything they are paired with. Mix them in with a strand of pearls.
