Ignatius Taschner Jugendstil Brass Repoussé Server
German sculptor and illustrator Ignatius Taschner's work has a decorative quality that is rich in narrative and design. Taschner worked in the Jugendstil, or "youth style", an off-shoot of art nouveau. This wonderful, and rare, example of his work is a fruit chiller. The etched glass container would have cream and fruits, and the brass base would be filled with ice. The chiller would be placed on the sideboard and the hostess would serve the iced cream with fruits for the dessert course.
