Majolica Cicida Vase Vallauris France

The Vallauris region in the south of France near Cannes has long been a center for ceramics. A Spaniard, Pablo Picasso, brought it to global prominence by creating his ceramic collections with local artisans. 

This vase is by Albert Ferlay and features a lovely country scene with a robust cicada resting near the rippled rim. Some might say this is a carafe. Either way, it is a wonderful celebration of those late summer days. 9" tall.
