Antique Independent Order of Odd Fellows Banner
The IOOF is a fraternal organization founded in 1819 in Maryland. The Order of Odd Fellows has roots in England dating back to Jacobean times. The organization is non-political and non-sectarian, with a focus on philanthropy and charity.
This banner comes from one of the IOOF lodges and has three symbols embroidered on a light pink satin ground. A bow with three arrows to represent friendship, love, and truth. A bundle of sticks representing concerted effort. And a quiver of arrows. It is likely late 19th century. The satin has begun to loosen in areas. 20” x 27”
