Meiji Bronze Ikebana Vase

This bronze ikebana vase is shaped in a shallow cup formation made of lotus leaves. The Meiji period bronzes had an art nouveau sensibility and featured animals, plants, and mythological creatures, such as the dragon which forms a handle on this piece. The patinated bronze creates a rich color much like the earth and is thought to be excellent for presenting flowers in the ikebana styles. 5 1/2 inches in height, by 5 inches in width, and 7 inches in length.
